Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State have called for party unity and development ahead of the state’s 2027 elections.
Also, the youth called for youth development and responsible participation in the political and socio-economic development of Nigeria.
Speaking at the youth summit held in Akoko Northwest Local Government, the APC Youth Leader and organiser of the event, Busari Mustapha, expressed appreciation to party leaders, members and residents for their continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mustapha stressed the importance of unity within the party, describing it as essential to sustaining the APC’s programmes, strengthening its grassroots structure and fostering effective engagement among members.
He also urged young people to shun drug abuse, pursue education, acquire relevant skills and embrace entrepreneurship as pathways to personal development, self-reliance and economic independence.
The Youth Leader commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his contributions to youth development and empowerment in Ondo State, particularly in Akoko North West, as well as his support for the administration of President Tinubu.
He noted that sustained investment in young people was critical to the future development of Akoko North West and Ondo State, urging youths to take advantage of available opportunities to build their skills and contribute meaningfully to society.
The APC Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Obanla, commended Mustapha for organising the initiative. He urged party members and residents to sustain their support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Similarly, the member representing Akoko North West Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Fatai Atere, who is seeking re-election, appreciated the people for their support for the APC-led government and called for continued support for the party.
The Director-General of BTO4PBAT, a political support group, Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, said the APC remained committed to a development agenda for Nigeria and urged party members to remain united, focused and committed to the party’s objectives.
Also speaking, Hon. Idowu Aiyegbusi emphasised the importance of party unity, stressing that cohesion among members was essential to strengthening the party and ensuring effective preparations for forthcoming elections.
At the Youth Summit, there was an inter-school quiz competition involving students from Constituency 1 and Constituency 2 in Akoko North West Local Government Area. Students representing Constituency 1 emerged winners and received a cash prize of ₦100,000.
The competition provided an opportunity to promote academic excellence, healthy competition and intellectual development among young people, while highlighting the importance of education in preparing youths for future leadership and economic opportunities.
The summit brought together APC leaders, youths, students, educators and other stakeholders. Discussions centred on responsible youth participation, education, entrepreneurship, party unity and constructive engagement as essential elements in the development of Akoko North West, Ondo State and Nigeria.
