Coventry City have reached an agreement to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal, reports Completesports.com.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X on Saturday, revealing that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

“EXCLUSIVE: Coventry City agree deal to sign Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest, here we go! 🇳🇬,” Romano wrote.

“Club to club agreement done, permanent move and also understand medical is now ongoing. New striker for Frank Lampard.”

The 29-year-old is now undergoing his medical ahead of completing the move.

Awoniyi will link up with his international teammate Frank Onyeka at Coventry City, where he will play under manager Frank Lampard.

The striker joined Nottingham Forest from Bundesliga side Union Berlin in 2022.

Awoniyi struggled for regular playing time last season, registering four goals and one assist in 17 league appearances for the Tricky Trees.

He has fallen behind Chris Wood and Igor Jesus in the pecking order at the City Ground.

The move to Coventry is expected to offer Awoniyi the opportunity to secure more regular playing time and revive his career.
